    Service Voluntary Certification

    Education Requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent.

    Training Hours: Complete 5,280 hours of on-the-job training and two 12-week in-class technical training sessions for this apprenticeship.

    Bakers produce foods ranging from bread and cakes to pies and pastries. This trade requires artistic ability, physical labour, and the ability to operate industrial machinery. Senior bakers organize production schedules, purchase supplies, promote goods, and supervise staff.

    Service Voluntary Certification Certificate of Qualification Exam Red Seal

    Education Requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent.

    Training Hours: Complete 6,130 hours of on-the-job training and two 12-week in-class technical training sessions for this apprenticeship.

    Baker-patissiers bring beauty to baked goods. They bake and decorate cakes, pastries, and confectionery. They also work with icings, fillings, and creams. Patissiers’ work can include arranging store displays, keeping inventory, and business and marketing.
