The Local Stats
Immigrants represent 23.1% of the population aged 15+ in the London Economic Region (LER), contributing significantly to the region’s demographic and economic growth. However, despite their increasing numbers, immigrant participation in the labour market is consistently lower than the regional average across all age groups, including young workers, prime age workers, and older workers.
With steady primary and secondary migration to the region, immigrants form a growing segment of the population. Ensuring their successful integration into the labour market is critical for sustaining the region’s economic vitality. Immigrants bring diverse skills and experiences that are vital for addressing labour shortages and driving economic innovation.
