Soft Skills Guide

Increasingly, employer focus on soft skills in their workforce and new hires. While soft skills are gaining popularity there is a need to unify understanding, develop measurement and evaluation, and outline connection to upskilling initiatives. WPDB will focus on ten regionally relevant soft skills and develop a resource to clarify these skills to improve job seeker upskilling and self-promotion and increase employer understanding to improve candidate evaluation and strengthen their understanding of skills related to their sectors.

The EmployerOne Survey has demonstrated increasing employer focus on soft skills in their workforce and new hires. They also indicated job seekers don’t have an understanding of their (fundamental) soft skills and how they can be applied during interviews and on the job. While soft skills are gaining popularity there are no universal definitions, measurements, or connection to upskilling initiatives.
Improving the workforces understanding and proficiency in Soft Skills will lead to better LMI outcomes including being hired and integrating into their jobs.

The Soft Skills Guide will better inform the workforce on how to develop and showcase these in-demand skills. Improving skills aligned with local demand, and increasing job seekers’ ability to showcase and demonstrate these skills will lead to improved hiring outcomes.
