What is the Workforce Planning and Development Board?

The Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board works to provide stakeholders with quality labour market information and so they can make decisions which result in a thriving, viable economy.

Our aim is to help improve the coordination of community responses to labour market issues and needs.

Workforce Planning Boards gather intelligence about the supply of labour and the demand for workers within the local labour market. We do this by working with employers to identify and their current and emerging skills needs. This information is then shared with current job seekers and local employment services and with future job seekers (students) through the formal education systems. The Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board is one of 26 organizations across the province forming the Workforce Planning Ontario network.

We were partners in the former Local Employment Planning Council pilot.

Your Workforce Planning & Development Board builds our community by:

  • gathering local labour market information
  • identifying training needs, trends and gaps
  • promoting the value of life-long learning
  • building and strengthening community partnerships
