Experiences of Discrimination Participant Recruitment

The St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership is conducting interviews in collaboration with a team of researchers at Western University about the experiences of discrimination that immigrants and racialized people may face in our community. We would like to invite you to participate in an online interview through Zoom to ask you about your experiences of discrimination in public spaces, workplaces, or with the police in our community in the last three years or since your arrival in Canada. To conduct the interview you will require a personal computer, tablet or cell phone enabled with a camera, microphone and internet connection.

The interview will take approximately one and a half hours, will be recorded and you will receive an electronic gift card for $30 (your choice of Tim Hortons or Walmart) to compensate you for your time. The interview will take place in English or, if needed and available, the interview could have an interpreter, or could be conducted by a researcher who speaks another language that you would prefer. You would then be asked questions in your preferred language and you would be free to answer in your preferred language as well.

Participation is completely voluntary and will not affect your relationship with the St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership. The information that you provide will be confidential and will not be attributed to you in any way.

Would you be interested in participating in this interview? If yes, please fill out the short pre-screen questionnaire at https://nest.uwo.ca/research/discrimination_interview.html or through the QR code above.

One of the researchers will then contact you by email to set up an interview and provide you with the necessary documents for the interview.

About the Ontario Caregiver Organization

The Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO) exists to support Ontario’s 4 million caregivers; ordinary people who provide physical and emotional support to a family member, partner, friend or neighbour. We support caregivers by being their one point of access to information, so they have what they need to be successful in their role.
